I have received many questions from readers about my favorite money saving tools and blogging tips, so I decided to compile my recommended resources into one list. All of these products and services are things that I have thoroughly vetted or used personally.
Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means that I will receive a small commission if you sign up for something (at no additional cost to you). It’s a win-win. You can read our full disclosure policy here.
MONEY SAVING TOOLS
Here are my favorite tools to help you manage your money!
Whenever you’re shopping online, make sure to check Ebates to see if you can earn cash back on any of your purchases. Ebates includes tons of popular stores, including Target, Amazon, Groupon, Walmart, Kohl’s, and JCPenney. You can earn up to 40% cash back on almost anything you buy, and it’s 100% free to join. Cash back can be received as a check or a PayPal deposit.
Similar to Ebates, Ibotta allows you to earn cash back on your purchases. With Ibotta, you can add rebates before you shop by completing simple tasks. You can also get cash back on purchases you’ve already made at participating stores – just take a photo of your receipt and redeem your rebates! There are over 300 supported stores, including Target, Walmart, and Walgreens.
Struggling with student loans? SoFi helps borrowers like you refinance their student loans at a lower interest rate. With rates as low as 2.795%, the typical SoFi member saves an average of $288/month or $22,359 total. All you need to do is fill out a quick, simple form and you can find out what SoFi can do for you in just a couple minutes.
START A BLOG
Here are my favorite resources for bloggers!
If you want to start your own blog, the first step is to set up website hosting. Bluehost is a popular choice for hosting because it’s affordable, easy, and the customer service is excellent. Check out my free step-by-step guide for how to set up a WordPress blog on Bluehost. If you sign up for Bluehost through my link, you will receive the lowest price possible at just $3.95 per month.
To earn money from your blog, you first need an audience. One of the most effective ways to get readers to your website is through Pinterest. Before I started using BoardBooster, I was struggling with my Pinterest strategy. Most of my pins were not getting any likes or re-pins, and only about 5% of my social media traffic was coming from Pinterest.
Once I started using BoardBooster, my monthly page views (and my blogging income) skyrocketed, and I now get more than 90% of my social media traffic from Pinterest. BoardBooster allows you to automate pinning, manage campaigns, and clean up your boards – it’s an enormous time saver and it will help you to identify what’s working for you and what isn’t. For just $5/month, it’s well worth the small investment.
Sometimes, the images you use for Pinterest are not the same ones you want to have on your actual blog. Vertical images with large font work best for Pinterest, but this may not work for your blog. On my site, I use horizontal images with no font because this works best for my website layout.
In order to pin different images to Pinterest, I use the Social Warfare plugin for WordPress. This makes it so easy to pin on Pinterest! Social Warfare also allows me to select an image to be used on Facebook and other social media sites. For just $29/year (about $2.40 per month), it’s definitely worth it!
